Larry Payne has been an Athens County Resident for more than 30 years.  He currently serves as Athens County Commissioner.  Prior to being elected to the Commission, Larry was employed with the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce.  He has been active within the Athens County Community for many years.  His activities include the Alexander Lions Club, Chair of the ATCO Board, Co-Chair of the Athens Uptown Business Association, and was named Chamber Executive of the Year in 2006 by the Chamber Executives of Ohio.

Larry and his wife, Susan, reside in Albany where Larry has served two terms as the village Mayor.  They have four children: Megan, Meredith, Amanda and Andrew.  Larry's son, Andrew, is currently serving in Afghanistan with the United States Marine Corps.  The Payne family is involved in numerous community activities and are members of Christ the King University Parish.
